1. To start the day or during a transition, have the children focus on one point and breathe for one minute. If they are younger, do it for 15 seconds. This technique helps neurotypical and neurodiverse kids. In the beginning, it may not be that easy, but when it becomes part of the class schedule, it will become a habit. Dear teacher, have patience and persistence.
2. Before recess ends, ask the class to see if they need to go to the bathroom– it helps to avoid interruptions and helps the children learn self regulation.
3. Before a test or quiz ask the the neurodiverse students: do you need something? Say in advance if you are going to do a quiz.
4. In the classroom, create a moment where the students can stop and can stretch.
5. In the classroom, create a corner called “the quiet corner”: you can add pillows to make it comfy, add books, or paper to help them write emotions. The child can say “I need a break,” “I am sad” (no longer than 5 minutes and no more than 2 times per subject). This helps encourage them to express their emotions and to increase attention.
6. To close the day, do a minute breath and review the day with them. Whatever was positive they can keep it. “I had a great lunch yum,” or “Suzzie share her favorite pencil with me.” For the bad part, remind them to say bye or let it go.

1. Para comenzar el día o para una transición. Concéntrese en el punto y la respiración durante un minuto. Si los estudiantes son más jóvenes, hágalo durante 15 segundos. El niño puede decir “”Necesito un descanso”” “”Estoy triste”” (no más de 5 minutos y no más de 2 veces por tema). esto ayuda a aumentar la expresión de las emociones y la atención.
6. Para cerrar el día, respire un minuto y repase el día con ellos. sea lo que sea positivo, pueden quedárselo “”Tuve un gran almuerzo, ñam””, “”Suzzie comparte su lápiz favorito conmigo”” y la parte mala les recuerda que se despidan o que lo dejen ir.
